Our Groups

We currently support two singing groups for people whose health makes it difficult for them to access the benefits and pleasures of singing elsewhere. Both groups are led by skilled, experienced musical leaders, supported by a team of regular volunteers.

is our singing group for people affected by dementia, both those diagnosed with the condition and those who care for them.

is for local people who, for a wide range of reasons, experience significant breathlessness.

Past Groups

In the past we supported two more groups, The Lifecraft Singers and Street Voices.

The Lifecraft Singers were part of Talking in Tune for over 10 years until April 2016, when they joined the main Lifecraft body, a user-led organisation for people with mental health difficulties. Set up by Bev Sedley, led by Rowena Whitehead and later by Penny Lutoslawska, this singing group is not currently meeting.

Past singers commented that “The Lifecraft Singers (gave) me a reason to get up in the morning” and that the project provided a “happy environment in which to enjoy singing in a group, which is both warm and positive.”

Street Voices was a music group for homeless and vulnerably housed people. Led by Kay Barrett, it was part of the Talking in Tune family for seven years. In 2014 the group disbanded. This short film gives a flavour of this inspiring project:
