What is Singing for Breathing?

Singing for Breathing is our group for any adult from Cambridge and the surrounding area who is suffering from breathlessness. Sessions include guided relaxation; breath and voice exercises designed to help you breathe more effectively and make the best use of lung capacity; and a range of enjoyable songs to sing together. No singing experience is necessary!

Group members are affected by a range of chronic (long-term) respiratory diseases, including COPD (chronic bronchitis and emphysema) asthma, pulmonary hypertension, pulmonary fibrosis, and occupational lung disease. Others have breathing pattern disorders caused by traumatic stress or are recovering from lung injuries or lung transplantation.

Joanna Burton leads the Singing for Breathing group.

Joanna is a singer and community singing group leader who has lived in Cambridge with her family for 12 years.  She is working with the support of Talking in Tune to help deliver Singing for Breathing Cambridge sessions, both in person and online via Zoom.

Spread the word
